The Practice

What is Chinese Medicine?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete medical system that has diagnosed, treated, and prevented illness for over three thousand years. It is a wealth of accumulation of experience with Chinese herbal remedies and the practice of acupuncture and acupressure.

How does Chinese Medicine work?
Traditional Chinese medicine states that the body has the potential to cure its own diseases if nourished in the correct way. It emphasises the body as a whole, concentrating on strengthening the patient's own immune system and correcting the imbalance of the internal organs.

How does Chinese Medicine complement western medicine?
Unlike western medicine that is concerned mainly with isolated, specific area of disease TCM emphasises the whole spectrum of the body, mind and spirit in a scientific manner called the holistic concept, With some nagging chronic complaints where western medicine fails, Chinese medicine has more effective results, complete cure being common.

What are the treatments?

  • Herbal Treatments

Herbal treatment includes: dry herbs to be taken as tea, herbal tablets or capsules, powders and lotions. Prescribed on diagnosis to improve the general condition of the body and to correct any existing imbalance.

  • Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the gentle insertion of a hair fine needle into specific points on the body called acupuncture points along paths of the meridians to stimulate the flow of one's natural healing energy. The use of needle (only disposable needles are used) is virtually painless, safe and highly effective.

  • Acupressure (Medical Massage)

It refers to a system of massage, body manipulation, and stimulation of acupuncture points by hand. This therapy is used to correct imbalances, created relaxation and achieve harmony in the body's system.

How to make diagnosis and receive treatment?

Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis is very comprehensive. After taking a detailed case history, examining the"presenting condition" and looking at the many factors which will affect this for each patient, our doctors will also use multiple pulse readings, tongue condition and texture and the facial and skin colours to complete the diagnosis.

The examination or consultation is completely free and confidential.
